Grojogan Sewu Kulon Progo Waterfall has a unique water character because it is blue, as if the water comes from sea water, even though because the color of the base of the waterfall caused by moss makes the water become bluish.

Grojogan Sewu Waterfall has a height of about 15 meters, its location is between two rock cliffs making this waterfall as if flanked by two cliffs. The water discharge is also quite large especially in the rainy season.

Legend of the Baratayuda War

The people around Grojogan Sewu waterfall believe that this place is closely related to the legend of the Mahabarata war. At that time, King Sri Krishna did not want his brother King Baladewa to participate in the Baratayuda war.

At that time, Sri Krishna was looking for a rather secluded place to isolate the Maldives Prabu so that he did not hear of the war.

At that time, Sri Krishna saw the beautiful Grojogan Sewu waterfall with a water discharge so large that it gave off a rumbling sound of water.

That’s when Sri Krishna brought Baladewa to this waterfall, and it turns out that what Sri Krishna did succeeded, Baladewa did not hear the Baratayuda War whose voice sank due to the roar of the sound of the waterfall.

Pleret Cave

There is a cave located not far from Grojogan Sewu waterfall which is believed by residents to be a place where Baladewa pray, and the cave is known as Pleret cave which can also be visited until now.

The opening hours of this tourist attraction start from 08.00 am to 17.00 pm every day.
